Surgical Technicians are another vital healthcare member that works behind the scenes. This a position that has very little to no patient contact. Surgical Techs have a detail-orientated position in healthcare. The tasks and responsibilities of surgical technicians include preparing a room surgical, gathering all equipment and supplies needed, and ensuring all equipment and supplies are completely sterile. It is very important that the equipment and supplies used in surgery are sterile (containing zero microorganisms), because surgeries are an invasive procedure, meaning that some part of the body is cut open so an internal health issue can be corrected or rectified. If any microorganisms were to enter the body through a large opening this could mean a life-threatening situation for a patient through staph infection or nosocomial infections that can occur during surgery.
